Terrifying footage has emerged of a herd of elephants, including breeding males and females with calfs, furiously heading towards a safari vehicle.

The video, filmed at Kruger National Park in South Africa, shows the elephants aggressively posturing towards the people in the vehicle, who courageously stand their ground.

The filmer later wrote online: "When everything goes wrong: Wrong place, can't reverse; wrong time, breeding herd on the move; mother elefants protecting their calfs.

"Not much to do but hope for the best; just as terrifying as it looks."
