Body cavity search discovers more than 1,400 bags worth of heroin stuffed into drug trafficker's rectum

ST. ALBANS, VERMONT — A drug trafficker from Bronx, New York tried to get crafty about where he hid his stash, but he ended up failing a sniff test and getting busted anyway.

Vermont state troopers stopped 41-year-old Fernando Estrella after catching him speeding through a stop sign just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday. A drug-detecting dog that was accompanying the troopers sniffed out something fishy in Estrella's car, and a search of the vehicle turned up a heroin needle and a cooking cap. But, no drugs were found, reported local NBC-affiliated TV station WPTZ.

Troopers obtained a warrant for a body cavity search, and three condoms filled with heroin were later pulled from Estrella's rectum. Maybe that doesn't seem like such a huge amount … but what if we told you the amount found was equal to a whopping 1,428 bags of heroin?

Estrella has been charged with felony heroin possession, heroin trafficking and heroin importation. According to WPTZ, he's also violated the terms of a 2015 cocaine bust.
