Socialist leader falls far short in initial bid to become Spanish PM

Madrid, Mar 2 (EFE).- Spain's Parliament soundly rejected Socialist leader Pedro Sanchez's bid to become prime minister, voting 219-130 Wednesday against his candidacy.
Sanchez failed to garner support from any party outside the Socialists' pact with the pro-market Ciudadanos, leaving him far short of an absolute majority of 176 votes.
