Hurry up and wait, that's what the military is all about... moments of extreme violence and action and then long stretches of incredible boredom where nothing happens. Your friend's brother is still a hero and a war veteran that served his country and a great and noble cause of bringing democracy in the most violent, repressive and backwards place on Earth. my friends brother just got back from Iraq (he's a marine) and said he sat around all day and filled sandbags.... this isn't rambo we're talking about here, its not like that-most marines in Iraq don't get to fire their rifle the entire time they're there! :}
