The older brother of TheMotionDevotions curator served in the U.S. Army in the 1970s and was stationed in Berlin when the wall still stood. This Soviet-era game show was recorded cross-border using military surveillance technology as the USA spied on and analyzed the culture of the Soviet Union via their television shows.
JUST KIDDING ! This is a segment from SCTV, probably the best show featuring sketch comedy that was ever broadcast. In the humble opinion of TheMotionDevotion, SCTV beat out Saturday Night Live by a country mile in terms of inventiveness and consistency.
The title chosen for this video clip is WHEEL of FORTUNE - the SOVIET version but thats a tad misleading. Youre probably wondering Well, wheres the WHEEL? but please be reminded that such crass displays of materialism were frowned upon by the communists and therefore that aspect of the game show was exorcised.
