Majority Of Young Adults With Stroke Symptoms Would Delay Going To Hospital

A recent survey undertaken by UCLA had some troubling news. Among participants under 45 who were given the symptoms of stroke and asked what they would do within the first three hours, only one in three said they were likely to visit the hospital.

Think younger people aren't at risk for stroke? Think again. 
Since the 1990s, strokes in patients under the age of 45 have risen by 53% in some cases. 
Dr. David Liebeskind, with the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, said, "When they think that these symptoms may be mild or due to some other medical problem--or nothing at all...we tend to delay and not come in immediately, but that's a real problem." 
And that problem is potentially really large.
