Yemen officials say governor of port city of Aden survives car bomb attack that kills 2

Yemeni officials say the governor of the southern port city of Aden has survived a car bomb attack that killed two and critically wounded three of his bodyguards.
Tuesday's assassination attempt on Gov. Aidarous al-Zubaidi comes a month after his predecessor was killed in a bombing claimed by Yemen's local Islamic State affiliate.
Al-Zubaidi has been cracking down on extremist groups, which have exploited the chaos of Yemen's civil war.
Last week, government forces retook the strategic Red Sea port from several militias.
Yemen has been plagued by fighting between the internationally recognized government, which controls Aden, and Shiite Houthi rebels, who control the capital and much of the north.
