Southern California is known for blue skies and beautiful weather, but even it has some serious weather problems from time to time.

On Tuesday, winds ripped through the desert region north of Los Angeles, overturning big rigs and peeling the roof off of an airport building.

No less that 7 semis were capsized on area highways and in the city of Mojave.

Wind speeds were clocked at up to 70 miles per hour, with intermittent gusts whipping at 85 miles per hour.
