A study released by the Harvard Business School claims that Airbnb hosts accept guests with white-sounding names more frequently than those with African-American-sounding names.

New research from Harvard Business School appears to show that Airbnb hosts are racially biased when it comes to guest selection.
According to the study, "Inquiries from guests with White-sounding names are accepted roughly 50% of the time. In contrast, guests with African-American-sounding names are accepted roughly 42% of the time."
Researchers created 6,400 phony profiles and attempted to book housing in Dallas, Los Angeles, Baltimore, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C.
