US officials have confirmed the death of ISIS Finance Chief Abu Salah.
US officials have confirmed the death of ISIS Finance Chief Abu Salah.
The senior member of the terrorist group and two other leaders were killed during a November coalition airstrike led by the United States.
According to Colonel Steve Warren, a military spokesperson, capture was not an option at the time.
A US envoy for the effort to counter ISIS shared the news on Twitter, noting the strike was part of a larger effort to, “…destroy ISIL's financial infrastructure.”
That initiative has included targeting trucks used by the group to traffic crude oil.
As of early December, the mission has been successful in depleting over 40% of that revenue source.
