Theodore Robert 'Ted' Bundy (November 24, 1946 – January 24, 1989) was an American serial killer. Bundy raped and murdered scores of young women across the United States between 1974 and 1978. After more than a decade of vigorous denials, Bundy eventually confessed to 29 murders, although the actual total of victims remains unknown. Typically, Bundy would rape his victims, and then murder them by bludgeoning, and sometimes by strangulation. He also engaged in necrophilia.

In stark contrast to the brutality of his crimes, Bundy was frequently described as educated and charming. His friends and acquaintances would remember him as a handsome and articulate young man.
