When summer storms swept through southeast Queensland on November 29, Debbie McCourt and her son Riley weren’t expecting a bolt of lightning to strike right next to their vehicle during a Sunday drive home. The lightning strike hit a pole off the highway, causing sparks to flare onto the road.
