Peru: Health Workers Attacked by Police, Continue Protests

Striking heath services workers had organized a protest outside Congress in Lima on Tuesday, but their plans were frustrated by the police, who dispersed with the use of water cannons. Police also used batons to beat the workers and push them away from the area. The demonstrators are demanding the formalization of 15,000 part-time workers. They say that the health system must include all administrative, maintenance, general services, nutrition, laundry, admission and transportation workers. Plans call for the renewal of an open-ended strike next Monday. Rael Mora reports from Lima for teleSUR.
