A mine accident in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais could pollute the regional water supply, leaving millions of residents without clean water. A dam holding back waste water from an iron ore mine that is co-owned by the Brazilian Vale and the Australian BHP burst a week ago, spilling toxic waste into the environment.
