Tex Malinson, played by Tex Ritter, a former radio performer, is a minstrel in a traveling show along with his friend and ally, “Grass” Hopper. A local bully, Price, burns the wagons of the traveling show, putting Tex out of a job. He then becomes the county tax collector and must face off again with the evil Price, who owes back taxes. He and his sidekick Grass eventually triumph over Price, who pays up. Scattered throughout the movie are performances by Tex Malinson and a former Broadway star, Ethelind Terry, singing songs such as Tombstone and If Love Were Mine. Salty Holmes also plays harmonica using both his mouth and nose.
