Mumbai: Sena stalls BCCI-PCB meet

Shiv Sena workers on Monday (October 19) stormed the headquarters of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Mumbai, stalling the meeting between the officials of the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The BCCI is likely to reschedule and shift the venue of the meeting, following the ruckus at its office. according to sources. Workers were reported to have raised slogans against Pakistan and the PCB Chief Shahryar Khan. BCCI chief Shashank Manohar was also gheraoed by the Sainiks. Many of the Sena workers were detained outside the BCCI headquarters. The meeting between Khan and Manohar was to be held to discuss resuming of cricketing ties between the two countries. Khan and the head of the PCB's executive committee Najam Sethi on Sunday arrived in India in a bid to convince the BCCI to confirm the India-Pakistan cricket series in December. Meanwhile, opposition parties have slammed the Sena, as well as the BJP government, for the law and order situation in the city.
