As you probably know, yesterday was the Great American Boycott, aka: a Day Without an Immigrant. Since I don’t quite believe everything I hear (unless it agrees 100% with what I already believe), I decided to go down there myself and get a first hand look at what was going on and what it was people where there for. I have about an hour of footage that I chopped up and put onto the web site CarFreeLA.com in case you would like to take a look. I also have a few pictures on there too.
I have to say, it was quite an experience. I don’t think I have ever been part of an event that big. Whether the protesters get what they want or not, one thing that is clear, this event will definitely go down in history. I am really anxious to see what the economic impact was. I did not see a single business open in the immediate downtown area, yet there were plenty of entrepreneurs within the crowds. At first I was shocked and a bit upset about the fact that people where trying to push their carts through all the crowds. Then I got really thirsty and was very thankful they were there. Anyway, check out the videos and see for yourself.
