Story of PORN Writer | Bhabhi Ka Aachal | Mastram
A small-time writer with big literary ambitions enters Shivshankar Publication, a piddling pulp fiction publisher, hoping to snag that elusive book contract. His earlier submission was rejected. This time, he is confidently armed with a fresh idea, one that is spiced up with just the right dose of masala, as demanded by the market-conscious publisher. The plot: a student is seduced by a sultry tutor.
The racy story arouses the publisher, and goes on to do the same to thousands of readers. It ensures its writer, Mastram, of instant fame (and notoriety). This scene is taken from Mastram, a new Bollywood movie on the legendary writer of Hindi erotica.
Long before Playboy, porn sites and Savita Bhabhi reached the young Indian, Mastram ruled. Akhilesh Jaiswal, an ambitious director from the Anurag Kashyap camp, grew up "in absolute awe" of Mastram. Hence, his celluloid tribute to the writer. "If Kamasutra was the grandfather of porn," Jaiswal said, "Mastram was certainly the father who carried forward that legacy." Sunil Bohra, the producer of the film, describes Mastram's work as "literature in paperback."
Jaiswal, like many Indians, was introduced to porn at an early age-in school, to be precise. "In our time, there was no TV," he said. "When we were growing up, we were very curious about our bodies, and, more importantly, the female body. We were curious about porn and about the pleasures of sex. Mastram's stories filled our imagination. His books had no photos. Yet, the writing was so titillating and seductive that you did not feel the need for visuals.
