Krishna Janmashtami also known as Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami is an annual celebration of the birth of the Hindu deity Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The festival is celebrated on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Bhadrapad, i.e around August–September of the Hindu calender in the month of Shravan. This day is celebrated in honour of Lord Krishna by singing devotional songs and krishna bhajans and arranging for grand celebrations which include Dahi Handi, Raas Leela, etc.
