Trailer: This film, a compilation of footage from the early to mid-20th century, shows the rise and fall of labor during times of war and peace. In times of war, America’s job market flourished with the increased demand of supplies. After WWI, the economic boom ended, and many people found themselves struggling to get by. It was during this time that the government began to create acts to protect the worker. Over time, labor laws entitled workers to minimum wages, maximum hours per shift, and union representation. WWII created another demand for workers, but something had changed. Now more technologically advanced, America sought higher skilled laborers, displacing the job market once again. Highlighting the challenge to change, this film shows the struggles to keep Americans employed and what has been done to protect their jobs.
