The People's String Foundation mix passionate theatrics with an Urban Gypsy sound. Led by Ben Sutcliffe (Musical Director for Rogue Theatre and Trebbigan Productions) who's virtuoso violin styles have landed him to play with the likes of Ralph McTell, The Levellers, The Stranglers, The Yardbirds, The 3 Daft Monkeys, and Gary Stringer from Reef. Mixing artisan flavours with world grooves and a band that expands into a 24 piece Orchestra, The People's String Foundation are fast being recognized as the heavyweights of the South West. As well as touring the Festival and Theatre circuits as a dynamic Trio they encompass a grass roots philosophy, working with the community and schools alike to promote local music and arts.

In early 2014 they released an album of their newest musical journey “The Lost Dreams Of Gilgamesh” based on The Epic of Gilgamesh from 3000BC. In the original writing, King Gilgamesh (“He who saw the deep”) goes on an epic quest for immortality but has five nightmares depicting his own demise and the destruction of his lands. Four of these visions have survived to this day etched forever in stone, but the fifth has never been recovered. This is The Lost Dreams Of Gilgamesh.

"Thoughtful and moving melodies... a diverse exploration of a fearless modern sound" Jim Carey - Kneehigh, Miracle Theatre, Bragatanga

"The Heavy Hitters!" Hew Stephens - BBC Radio 1

"The vocal performances on this record are remarkable and the orchestrations are inventive, exploratory and beautifully performed" Ralph McTell
