Netflix is killing it. This month’s report of 3.3 million new subscribers sent share prices soaring and had anyone with stocks bragging to their friends.
But you probably know a lot of people still using their friend or ex’s passwords and thus getting Netflix for free. How could the company be doing so well if so many people aren’t paying for the service?
Business Insider Estimates that 99.8 million people use Netflix compared to their just 45.6 million subscribers.
So more than twice as many people use Netflix compared to those who pay, how the hell can that be okay?
Because Netflix has already predicted that you’ll share it with your family members. So if the average U.S. household is 3.1 members (as reported by BI) or 2.63 (as reported by US census data) and you multiply the subscriber estimate you get 141 million or 119 million depending on which data you use.
