Trombones: Don Minor, Dickie Wells vocalist, and JC Higgenbottom.
This was the first big band I saw in person in the 40's. These dudes
were too cool before coolness. Check-out Joe Williams and Buck Clayton.
My main-man Mr. Don Byas. By all means: they made each not Count Like Basie!

De ju vu, all over again> Back in 40's I heard this band. High school student, in our band. Caught this group with our group. Bless his heart, Mr. Don Byas, talked with us the whole gig; turned his music stand left us watch the charts. WOW! Smiled and answered all of our questions. THANKS.

Not Shad Collins, but Ed Lewis, the lead trumpet (second from left).

Classic old testament Basie band, minus Prez. With Don Byas there, it must be 1942.

Trombones: Dan Minor, Dickie Wells, Eli...
Saxes: Buddy Tate, Tab Smith, Earl Warren, Jack Washington
