This weekend owes its share to Neeraj Ghaywan’s directorial venture Masaan that stars Richa Chadda, Vicky Kaushal, Sanjay Mishra, Shweta Tripathi and Pankaj Tripathi amongst others. So, are you hearing me? I am taking you to our quick film review that’ll help you decide on whether to watch or not watch the film!

So coming to the film’s plot; it follows two seemingly separate story arcs, which eventually converge. The first tells us the story of Richa aka Devi, who check into a hotel room. They are interrupted when the cops raids and are accused for indecent behavior. Then police blackmails Devi and her family, especially Inspector Mishra, who demands a heavy bribe from Devi’s father.

Varun Grover and Neeraj have superbly woven a plot, which adroitly shows how an old father faces morality crisis when his daughter faces guilt of sexual encounter ending in a loss of life. On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal is forced to work on Ganga ghats burning bodies; nonetheless we wants to escape.

He meets Shweta aka Shaalu who is an upper-class girl. Their difference leads to the old thing ladka garib khandaan se hai and all that societal and familial conflicts. After overwhelming performance in Gangs of Waseypur and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Richa seals the honors yet again!

Tier-II India has become too stereotyped for filmmaker and audience alike. Nonetheless, Masaan stands for something different. So watch it to love it and here’s our Uncut rating- 4 stars on 5!
