Astronauts aboard the International Space Station had to take emergency shelter in a docked Soyuz spacecraft on Thursday morning. 
The station was threatened by rapidly approaching space debris originating from a Russian weather satellite. 
Typically, such threats are known well in advance and there’s time to move the facility out of harm’s way.
However, that wasn’t the case this time and their best means of protection was to wait inside the capsule.
