Great Aunts is the current musical incarnation of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jeff Rose.
Previously involved with notable local South Florida rock bands like Stonefox, Goolsby, Lavola and Civilian, Rose started writing and recording his own tunes over the past few years. For Great Aunts he teams up with long-time musical cohort and best friend David Barnard, as well as enlisting Sage Duvall on drums and Ben Perman on bass. The sound of the band ranges from 90s alternative to modern indie rock, taking influence from artists such as Ben Kweller, Ambulance Ltd, Spoon, and Wilco.
Fall 2014 found Rose living in Nashville, TN with his then band Civilian. Over the course of a few cold months his latest effort Deep Breaths was written and recorded. The self-produced/released album, along with two previous albums (Fight Tonight and In Love With the Sun) can be streamed or downloaded at greataunts.bandcamp.com. The band hopes to be playing around South Florida quite a bit over the coming months and a new EP is in the works.
