Pluto: New Horizons space probe provides closest-ever pictures

The closest-ever pictures of Pluto, showing details of its geology, have been provided – courtesy of NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft.

Launched nine years ago, the probe is moving in yet further – with an historic fly-by of the dwarf planet planned for Tuesday.
