Stockyard Strut - Dutch Swing College 1989
A few years earlier in 1987 the Dutch Swing College, on one of their first CD’s recorded the tune Stockyard Strut. It is on a Philips CD called “digital date”.
Living far away in Canada it wasn’t until the nineties before I found out of new frontline personnel. Next to Peter Schilperoort and Bob Kaper in the frontline I hear these two fantastic brass players. Sytze van Duin cornet and Bert Boeren trombone. From a broadcast in Finland the band plays Stockyard Strut here in 1989. An impressive performance not to say the least.
Before you see and hear this clip I inserted a few bars of the original Stockyard Strut as recorded in 1926 by famous cornetist Freddie Keppard and his Jazz Cardinals.
