Chile: Pinochet Aides Sentenced to House Arrest in Corruption Case

A Chilean federal judge has sentenced two former aides to dictator Augusto Pinochet to house arrest for diverting funds from private companies to political campaigns. The Supreme Court opened an investigation Monday into Jovino Novoa and Alberto Cardemil for their role in the case and for taking bribes. Novoa is also being investigated in what's known as the “Penta case,” a corruption scandal that has embroiled numerous politicians across the political spectrum. teleSUR
