Meet Greece's new finance minister Euclid Tsakalotos

Euclid Tsakalotos has been Greece’s chief negotiator in the bailout talks with European creditors since Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ government came to power in January.
In many ways, he’s the antithesis of his predecessor Yanis Varoufakis, who European counterparts described as “impossible” to deal with.
A member of the ultra-left wing Syriza party for almost a decade, Tsakalotos is seen as a safer pair of hands for Greece to resume negotiations with its lenders.
Although less likely to come to blows with his European partners that his predecessor, Tsakalotos is no less radical critic of liberal capitalism, which he blames for bringing about the financial crisis.
Born in Rotterdam, he spent much of his life in the UK and read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford before completing his PhD in economics there.
He returned to Greece in 1993 and has been an MP since 2012.
