Brest44 (Military Vehicle Preservation Association) and friends were in Gouesnou, France last week-end to celebrate the end of WW2. On 7 august 1944, German troops executed 42 civilians at Penguerec south of Gouesnou, as an act of reprisal. Harry Stumpf, a retired US Infantry Officer, attended the event. He is the nephew of Major Harry R. Stroh (shot down near Gouesnou on 27, August 1944) and the grandson of General Donald A. Stroh (8th Infantry Division).
