Kingpin Skinny Pimp (born Derrick Dewayne Hill) is an American rapper from Memphis, Tennessee.

Hill was raised in North Memphis' Dixie Homes projects, where he lived with his grandfather. He began rapping in 1985 while attending Humes Jr. High School. After graduating, he began making mixtapes with a local DJ called DJ Squeeky. A few years later, their relationship ended and Skinny Pimp began associating with DJ Paul and Juicy J of the Three 6 Mafia.

From the success of these mixtapes, Three 6 Mafia recorded their first official album, Mystic Stylez, which featured Skinny Pimp on two tracks. From the success of Mystic Stylez, Paul and Juicy produced Skinny's album, King Of Da Playaz Ball.

Skinny Pimp left Three 6 Mafia in 1996 and started recording more albums. In 2001, he realsed Da Product Vol.1. Skinny Pimp got more involved into the business and eventually started associating with Nakia Shine and Andre 'Dre Day' Stephens of the label Rap Hustlaz to release his 2002 album, Pimpin & Hustlin. He is now apart of the New Prophet Camp. Skinny Pimp is now bringing out his CDs on his own label, Gimmisum Productions. His new mix CD is called Street Mix volume 1.

Kingpin Skinny Pimp was on the phone with Craig Brewer, the director of Hustle & Flow before he filmed the movie. Skinny told Brewer to do a movie called Kings of Memphis, a story on how Memphis rappers came up, from Skinny Pimp's point of view.

Brewer ran off with the idea and switched it around but made it similar to the same story and characters. He admitted on a phone conversation with Fox 13 news[citation needed], that he took certain rappers names like Gangsta Blac and Kingpin Skinny Pimp. He claims that he never met Skinny Pimp until the day that he was filming the movie, but gave Skinny Pimp a shoutout on his first movie, The Poor and the Hungry.
