In Japan, it is widely believed that spirits and gods are among us, inhabiting the shadows of the forest or in the dark corners of old houses in the country, wishing to be seen only when they want to be seen.
After the end of World War II, cities like Tokyo have modernized, and these gods and spirits have all but disappeared from the metropolises. But far off, away from the high-rise buildings and busy streets, lives a forest spirit species called Totoro that can live up to 3,000 years, make the trees grow by dancing, and sleep all day while partying all night by ghost riding the wind.
