Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations has called on the Security Council to condemn Israel's top military official's suggestion of a nuclear attack on Iran.
Gholam Ali Khoshrou said the recent comments by Moshe Ya’lon were crude threats that show the aggressive nature of Israel. Khoshrou added that the Israeli official openly and ruthlessly invoked Hiroshima and Nagasaki in dealing with Iran and also threatened to target civilians in Lebanon. The Iranian envoy said the remarks show Ya’lon’s disregard for the loss of life in the U-S nuke attacks and serve as a confession that Israel intentionally targets civilians in Gaza and Lebanon. Khoshrou further described the comments as a challenge to basic principles on armed conflicts and international humanitarian law. Khoshrou also said Ya’lon unwittingly exposed Israel’s possession of a nuclear weapon stockpile despite Tel Aviv’s attempts to hide it.
