Iran and Iraq have both urged an immediate end to the deadly Saudi airstrikes in Yemen.
In a joint statement, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and his visiting Iraqi counterpart Foad Ma’sum have called for a complete ceasefire in the impoverished country. They also urged the removal of the blockade on Yemen to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Yemen. Both figures described terrorism and extremism as the main challenge facing the Middle East. They called for regional and international cooperation to fight any type of terrorism. The Iraqi president left Iran following his two-day visit. He held separate meetings with top Iranian officials during his stay in Tehran.
