The Calling lead singer, Alex Band, voice behind 2001 hit single Wherever You Will Go, was abducted, robbed, beaten and dumped by train tracks in Michigan.

The newly reunited band were in Michigan for their first performance in more than eight years.

Band was walking from his hotel room to a mini-mart at about 4:00 a.m. when a blue van pulled up beside him and he was abducted.

The Calling band manager and band members later noticed Band was missing and sent out a search party. It is unclear whether or not they called their search party The Searching, although sources close to the matter have told TomoNewsUS the band manager wanted to call the search party The Really Calling.

Band was later found bloodied and beaten near main road.

Band was conscious and told his band manager that after he was abducted he had been robbed and beaten. Band was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was released a short time later.

According to The Daily Mail, probably the news agency most converse in the rise and fall of The Calling: "The Calling's biggest hit was Wherever You Will Go in 2001. They split in 2005 but announced they were back together just four days ago on their Facebook page. They played a gig in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Saturday night before going to Michigan to perform at the music festival.

"In 2003, when the 32-year-old was still with the band, he sang on the Carlos Santana single Why Don't You And I. The song was extremely successful, charting at number three on the Billboard Top 40 and number eight on the Billboard Top 100. The band appeared in the movie Coyote Ugly. It was also recently named the number five song of the decade on the Adult Pop charts by Billboard."
