Muni shooting: San Francisco police arrest suspect in senseless murder of Justin Valdez

Muni shooting UPDATE: San Francisco police have arrested Nikhom Thephakaysone,30, in the muni murder of Justin Valdez, a 20-year-old student at San Francisco State University. The victim did not know his attacker and the crime appears to be random. Thephakaysone lives three blocks away from the crime scene.

Police in San Francisco have released a video of a man believed to have shot and killed a 20-year-old male for no apparent reason.
The video shows a stocky Asian-American man between 20 and 30 years old wearing a Purple baseball cap and a white jacket.
"On Monday, September 23, 2013 at approximately 9:50 PM, a 20 year old male was shot to death as he exited an eastbound MUNI LRV at Randolph and Bright Street," the San Francisco Police Department website reads.
"The suspect and victim do not appear to have known each other," it continues. "The attack appears to be random and unprovoked. The suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous, fled the scene and remains at large."
Police told the local media that the murder is made worse by the fact that it appears to have been completely unprovoked. Residents of Ingleside Heights, a neighborhood already known for its high crime rate, said the statement has made them worried about the incident.
Police maintained a heavy police presence in the neighborhood through yesterday, including on public transportation nearby. One officer who was stationed at the crime scene said the saturation was to prevent further violence from erupting in the neighborhood, the San Francisco Examiner reported.
