New satellite images show 122 objects believed to be from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 scattered over a 400-square-kilometre area off the coast of Perth, Australia.

The finding comes after Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak announced on Monday that the plane had crashed. He said in statement that a satellite analysis showed that flight MH370's last position was in the Indian Ocean west of Perth.

Images captured on Sunday by an Airbus Defence and Space satellite revealed bright objects 2,557 km off the coast of Perth.

"Some of the objects appeared to be bright, possibly indicating solid material," Malaysian Transport Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, said based on an analysis performed by the Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA).

MRSA identified 122 objects scattered across a 400-square-kilometre area that ranged from 1 to 23 metres in length.

"It must be emphasised that we cannot tell whether the potential objects are from MH370," Hussein said.
"Nevertheless, this is another new lead that will help direct the search operation. We have now had four separate satellite leads, from Australia, China and France, showing possible debris.
"It is now imperative that we link the debris to MH370. This will enable us to further reduce the search area and locate more debris from the plane," he added.
