A man was killed in his apartment in Nairobi on Sunday (March 30) after the explosive device he was assembling blew up.
The suspected terrorist, about 22 years old, was reportedly in a first floor apartment of a four-story residential building with three accomplices, when an IED bomb went off as he was assembling it.
The explosion caused major cracks in the walls of the building and shattered windows, and was heard around three kilometers away, local newspaper The Standard reported.
According to witnesses, the other men escaped in a saloon car following the explosion.
The dismembered body of the man was found in the kitchen by police after they entered the apartment.
Police could not immediately say who was responsible for the explosion, but said they suspected sympathizers of Somali Islamic extremists.
