A total of 10 aircraft and 10 ships will be involved in search operations to find the black box of missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

The new search area is about 1,850 km west from Perth, which is closer to Australia's coast than the previous one, and therefore easier to reach, CNN reported.

HMAS Success and HMAS Toowoomba, seven Chinese ships and a merchant vessel are now combing the water in search of debris from the missing plane.

Transport dock Kunlunshan, supply ship Qiandaohu, and the missile destroyer Haikou, will be responsible for searching the southern part of the new area, Xinhua reported. While Haixun 01, Nanhaijiu 115 and Donghaijiu 101 will search in the northern part.

The aircrafts joining the search efforts reportedly come from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, South Korea, the US and Malaysia.

The Australian Defence Vessel Ocean Shield, fitted with a black box detector will also leave Perth today.

Some parts of the search zone are expected to be affected by low cloud and rain, but according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, despite the bad weather the search operations are expected to continue.

The MH370 flight has been missing since March 8 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing and the battery on black box pingers attached to black boxes are certified to last 30 days.

While some experts say the clock is ticking, US navy supervisor of salvage and diving Captain Mark Matthews said the battery would last around 45 days instead of 30 days, giving more time to searchers for its detection.
