A 50-year old Chinese restaurant delivery man was ambushed and shot dead as he took food to a dead-end street in a notoriously dangerous area of Mariner's Harbor, Staten Island, on Tuesday.

Richard Salvia was taking an order that included sweet and sour chicken from the Grand Palace restaurant on Forest Avenue to a house at 244 Grandview Avenue when he was gunned down.

He pulled up outside the address and was exiting his vehicle when police said an unidentified assailant approached him and shot him in the head.

A nearby resident found Salvia's body shortly afterwards. Salvia reportedly had $136 in cash in his pocket. Police are now investigating if Salvia had a wallet and whether it was taken.

Local residents told reporters that delivery drivers are often called to Grandview Avenue, which is a dead-end street, and mugged. Police are reportedly looking for three suspects.
