Brazil's 7-1 loss to Germany in yesterday's World Cup faceoff is the nation's worst defeat since their 1920 6-0 upset by Uruguay.

Brazilians weren't happy with the huge sums of cash spent on the World Cup, but at least they thought they had a great team to get behind.

Enter Germany, who put an end to any dream of winning the Cup on home turf.

Deutschland walloped the host nation, winning 7-1 over Brazil in the nation's worst loss since the 1920 6-0 upset by Uruguay.

The one goal by Brazil in the 90th minute was little comfort to fans who took the streets in agony following the match, leading to several arrests.

Brazil is next on the pitch Saturday against the other semi-final loser, and if they win, it will hardly be a consolation.

The team never got to play at the main Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, where Germany will face either Argentina or the Netherlands.
