Senior citizen shoots dead possibly pregnant woman caught burglarizing his home

An 80-year-old Long Beach homeowner has no regrets about an alleged home burglary that ended in the death of woman who said she was pregnant.
Retiree, Tom Greer came home late Tuesday night to find out that his Bixby Knolls home was in the midst of being ransacked by a man and woman. Greer told authorities that the couple jumped on top of him and threw him to the ground.
They then proceeded to open his safe and start taking thousands of dollars in cash stored inside, Greer said, prompting him to reach for his .22-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver.
When the couple saw the gun they took off running. The man escaped, but the woman fell after being struck by Greer's gunfire in an alley behind the house.
Greer said the woman told him she was pregnant and not to shoot her, but her shot her again and killed her.
Authorities are still investigating the incident. Neither Greer nor the male intruder have been arrested.
