Video filmed on Saturday showing a park ranger in Philadelphia being attacked after he told a group of skateboarders they had to leave the city’s Love Park.

Philadelphia’s Love Park, featured in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2, once attracted skaters from all over the world. But after renovations in 2002, the city of Philadelphia banned skateboarding in the park.

Witness Mariano Verrico started filming a Love Park ranger as he told a group of young skaters there were too many children around for them to skate.

The incident quickly turned violent as one skater assaulted the ranger for about 30 seconds while his buddies taunted the victim. After several kicks to the head, nd a racial slur from a white onlooker, the aggressor finally stopped attacking the ranger but spat on him as he walked away.

It’s unclear what took place during the portion of the video that’s missing from the YouTube video so we don’t know for certain who initiated physical contact.

Verrico told NBC 10 that the ranger, “Never threw any type of punch at the kid or said anything negative.” The witness later escorted the victim to the police station and showed them the footage. The suspects have not yet been identified.
