Hong Kong pro-democracy demonstrations as seen from aerial drone cameras

Footage taken from a remote-controlled camera mounted on an aerial drone shows the massive scale of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong.
The crowds have taken over many major roads in central Hong Kong, streets that are usually overflowing with bus and taxi traffic but now are teeming with demonstrators who are literally sitting and sleeping peacefully in the middle of the road in a show of civil disobedience.
It is estimated at least 20,000 people took part in demonstrations on Sunday night. In at least a few cases, tear gas was fired by police as demonstrators clashed with them in attempts to reopen the blocked off streets and plazas.
The protests are part of Occupy Central, a grassroots attempt at getting the central government in Beijing to change its rules on how the semi-autonomous city governs itself. Hong Kong is due to directly elect a new leader in 2017. Beijing insists that it vet all potential candidates, most likely meaning that only pro-communist, pro-central government candidates will be able to run in the election.
