Japan is famous for its extreme cosplay, and this is no exception. The media is going bonkers over a guy who dresses up as Batman and tools around on a three-wheeled bat-cycle knockoff through the streets of Chiba.

Chiba is located across Tokyo Bay from, well, Tokyo. It’s about a 30-minute train ride away, and is considered a suburb of Japan’s capital city. But for one middle-aged, unidentified man, it’s his version of Gotham City.

He’s nicknamed “Chibat-man” — see what they did there — by his fans and recently he’s taken all of Japan by storm, appearing in everything from TV shows to music video cameos. There’s even a rumored deal in the works for him to be on one of Japan’s numerous TV talk shows as a regular guest.

But fear not citizens of Chiba, your streets will always be safe because Chibat-man vows to never leave the city undefended. You never know when the Joker may want to enjoy a day out at Inage Beach.
