A gunman shot and killed a doctor at a veterans clinic in West Texas on Tuesday before killing himself.

The shooting occurred at the El Paso VA clinic, which is close to Fort Bliss, Texas on Tuesday. The gunman reportedly first opened fire on a doctor before turning the gun on himself.

Police declared the site safe at around 5:45 p.m. At least one helicopter was circling above the clinic to assist with the investigation.

The identities of the gunman and doctor have not yet been released. Authorities said there were hundreds of potential witnesses, who were seeking medical help at time of the shooting.
