Cops tase tripping UCF student during his LSD rampage in police body cam video

A University of Central Florida student was taken to the hospital Sunday after reportedly taking LSD, throwing a fit on campus and evading police.

John Kane, 21, pulled the fire alarm inside the library around 3 p.m., according to the Orlando Sentinel. While students and faculty evacuated the library, Kane wandered around campus without shoes.

Video from a student's cell phone shows Kane yelling "Where am I?" and inflicting violence on other students.

At one point, the student filming Kane says, "we're going to get you help."

But when help arrives -- in the form of UCF police officers -- Kane resists them. The video shows him first laying down and complying with the cops' orders. When one of them tries to handcuff him, however, he screams and fights the man off.

Police body camera footage then shows Kane running away before the officer tases him in the back.

"In this case, officers recognized a student in distress and used their training to professionally diffuse the situation with his well-being and the safety of the other students in mind," Deputy Chief Brett Meade told the Orlando Sentinel.

Police told WPBF they received multiple calls about Kane, who was striking students and screaming.

Kane was still under observation at a local hospital on Monday. WPBF reported his charges were still unknown.
