Amputation accident: Toddler has finger cut off after wrapping bandage too tight - TomoNews

A toddler in eastern China had to be rushed to the emergency room after her family noticed one of her fingers had turned black and become swollen.
Her parents who lived in Suzhou with the 4-year-old, Yue Tue, explained to doctors that two days prior, she’d cut herself while playing.
It was just a minor cut, so her grandmother cleaned it and wrapped a small self-adhesive bandage around it.
The little girl explained that she was worried that it would fall off, so she got a piece of cloth and a rubber band to wrap around her finger.
It wasn’t until two days later that her parents caught wind of their daughter’s nursing skills and took off the cloth and the rubber band. Once they did, however, they were horrified to see that the rubber band had cut off the circulation to her finger and that the end of her finger was now swollen and black.
Doctors at the hospital were forced to partially amputate her finger in order to restore circulation to the remainder of the finger, although they said the discoloration may be permanent and the girl would lose some mobility and sensitivity in the finger.
