Rafa's said Nico was serving well & making 1st shot winners at the beginning of the match so that he could hardly win points on Nico's serve
He's then decided to move back a bit in his return position & things have changed. He's started to win points on the return & broken Nico.
The match has changed then. He's happy with his tennis. He's only had a bad game at beginning of 2nd set. Alex has praised his BH and Rafa's said it's been working well today (it was already working well in MC). It's a very important shot for him to then use his FH even though today he hasn't shot as many FH as he'd have liked. That's maybe the aspect of his game today that he'd like to improve. Alex has also asked Rafa if when he saw the draw, if he had seen a video of last year's match, as he lost to Almagro & was likely to play him again (as happened)
Rafa's told Alex that you learn more from seeing matches when you do things right and no, he didn't watch that match. He's said that obviously all the players watch some videos at some point, but it wasn't the case of last year's match. Rafa's reminded Alex that he had chances to take the match in the 2nd set, but once you go to a 3rd with a player like Nico, who hits the ball so hard, anything can happen.
Nico played well that 3rd set and won the match. He congratulated him at the time. And that's it. We're in another year. :)
